DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUE OVERVIEW

We want to help each player develop the basic skills that will lead to their enjoyment and success in the sport. Our goal is for all players to be able to learn, play and be appropriately challenged for their skill level as and much as possible participate with players of similar abilities.

NO EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED! We are here to introduce the sport to young players! We place players of similar ability together as much as possible to serve beginner, intermediate and advanced skills players.

The 1st-3RD/4th Skills Volleyball League - co-ed: Does not have set teams and incorporates modified, coach assisted games. Kids will be introduced to forearm passing, setting, attacking with an approach and overhand serving. We will also play coach assisted games.  Emphasis is on introducing basic skills and having fun.  We will separate into roughly 1st-2nd grade and 3rd-4th grade courts as well as by skill and experience.  We will have an end of season skills competition and/or mini-tournament. No experience necessary!

4th/5th-8th Grade Girls/Boys Leagues:  We will teach the fundamentals of forearm passing, setting, attacking with an approach, overhand serving as well as basic team concepts for competitive volleyball. We will have a weekly skill/concept focus followed by games in various formats that will highlight our area of emphasis for that week.  SEASON ENDING TOURNAMENT: We will end the season with a 1 or 2 week mini-tournament. When possible, we will have a separate group/court for 7th-8th Grade Boys.

Players will be roughly separated into 5th-6th and 7th-8th grade courts but also by skill and experience to allow new players a chance to better grasp the fundamentals and more experienced players to continue to be challenged.  No experience necessary!
